This is our Story
Mother & Daughter
At Hideaway Acres GSPs, we take immense pride in breeding German Shorthaired Pointers, where beauty, intelligence, and excellence are all embodied in four furry paws. Nestled in the picturesque Shawangunk Mountains of New York, our journey into this breed began as a move from the bustling city, seeking a more active canine companion. In the late 1970s, my mother, Sue, brought our first GSP into our lives, and we have been in love with this breed, a love that has lasted through the decades.
We consider ourselves preservation breeders, upholding the highest standards to safeguard the GSP legacy for future generations.
Our breeding practices are deliberate and infrequent, with a steadfast commitment to bettering each successive generation. Above all, our dogs are cherished members of our family, and there are no exceptions to this rule. Our achievements in the realm of this breed are simply the icing on the cake.
Over the years, we've forged lifelong friendships with fellow dedicated breeders and breed enthusiasts who share our passion. We are grateful for the mentors who shaped our breeding program. I am especially thankful to the late James and Mrs. June Burns, Kingswood Kennels who honored me with my personal first GSP. I continue to enjoy stories and learning from Linda Bynum, Weinland Kennels. Without solid mentors we could not have accomplished what we have.
Our hearts and souls have been touched by the most remarkable dogs, and for this, we are both grateful and humbled. Thank you for visiting our world of GSPs, and we warmly welcome conversations with those eager to learn more about this exceptional breed.
With warm regards,
