History of the Puppy Litter Theme
The Queen Bee "Ella's Beehive"
In late 2023 one of my friends suggested I write a children's book about Ella's adventures while being shown by a junior handler. I loved the idea and twirled it around for some time. There were so many stories, somehow I could never get past the beginning of one to start it.
In early 2024 that changed when we decided to breed Ella. Most people who know me, know I love to be a bit creative and often do the unexpected or go over the top. This book is one of those times. It's typical to have a breeding/puppy announcement and I created a movie announcement for Ella's first litter, themed the INgeneration. So in preparation for this breeding I wanted to do something new and different. An experience and a beautiful memory to hold. So I went back to the basics of the written word and put together The Queen Bee story of Ella's Beehive. Of course one book won't do so it is planned as a Trilogy.
The book, as the breeding, is a labor of love. Much thought has gone into the theme. Bees are an incredible part of nature and one I am respectful of. They are incredible and beneficial insects and according to Albert Einstein, humans would not survive without bees. Perhaps unproven but it does lend itself to an important message.
Our puppy themes are important for many reasons: organization from different litters, uniformity in names, pedigree documentation, creativity and of course a memorable litter. In the case of Bees I thought it would be important to draw attention to such an important topic. After all I've spent the last three summers meticulously growing and expanding a pollinator garden so bees have come to mean a lot.
Below you will find the first two books in The Queen Bee Trilogy. The first "Ella's Beehive" which is a short childrens story about our Queen Bee. The second "Babes in the Beehive" which details Ella's choice of her handsome Drone and expansive pictures of both are included.
The Bustling Beehive is planned as the third book this fall and will highlight the puppies first 8 weeks. I hope you enjoy this twist to the litter announcement and enjoy what's to come in the beehive!!
